| Truth: A Key to Happiness Most of us believe we understand "truth." When we think about it, though, we often find that we have internalized a confused version of what we actually believe, what our family believes and what our society believes. In other words, our truth is clouded by the mystery of a conditioned reality. The package that makes up who we are includes every thing that we have ever heard, seen, touched and experienced in any way. That package changes according to how we interpret or judge all of those things. The end result is that our egos become complex machines with mixed and often conflicting ideas of our own truth. Once we peel off the shoulds and ought tos that we have been taught to hide behind, we begin to discover our own truth. We choose partners who are attracted to us according to who we are at a particular time in our self-discovery. Our relationships often go through difficulties as we search for our own truth and, sometimes, our partnerships are unable to withstand the changes we experience through our growth. However, it is imperative that we continue the search because the search for our truth will set us on our own unique, creative path - our path to freedom. As we get closer to our true path, focus becomes easier and decisions flow effortlessly. The truth comes from your heart. When you begin to listen to your heart, your truth emerges and you will gravitate towards all of those things that make you happy. You will edit out the ought tos that no longer serve you and begin a life of doing what you love. One of the things I love about what we are doing at the Law of Abundance Club is giving people an opportunity to focus on freeing themselves from the restrictions of time and money to begin a life of doing all that they love. |

Anglican Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu, the South African activist who won the Nobel Peace Prize for his international advocacy of a non-violent end to South African apartheid, has enthusiastically agreed to receive Humanity’s Team’s Spiritual Leadership Award.
We believe his decision is momentous and catapults the mission of Humanity’s Team to a new level of prominence and influence, endorsing our goal of Awakening the World to Oneness. It also affirms all that we’ve accomplished together in five short years and positions us to extend our efforts in the months and years ahead.
We will present the Spiritual Leadership Award, Humanity’s Team’s highest honor, to Archbishop Tutu on April 18 at the 2009 global Oneness Summit, sponsored by Humanity’s Team, in Pretoria, South Africa. The award has become the standard among global awards for extraordinary demonstrations of inclusive spiritual leadership through one’s life lived.
THANK YOU again for the many ways you have contributed to making Humanity’s Team what it is today.
With much love,
Steve Farrell

Hello Authors,
The holiday hustle and bustle are here. We put up our tree last weekend and are waiting for a break in the weather so that we can get our outdoor lights hung. Missouri is expected to have the coldest winter on record this year so we may not get those Christmas lights up until Memorial Day. Let me give a warm welcome to our many new readers. Interest in Book Bites is growing rapidly over the last few months and I am delighted to welcome you to our community. We are passionate about creating books that build businesses, make money, and help our readers. In today’ edition, you’ll find a thought-provoking article, a book recommendation, a money-saving opportunity, and the opportunity to join me in LA next month. Enjoy! |

Today’s Featured Article Advocate for Your Readers
In my work as a publisher, I have the opportunity to read many manuscripts from new authors. Many are wonderful. Some unfortunately, are in need of a makeover. Some books just feel ‘off’. It’s hard to identify the problem, but they just don’t feel right. After much study and comparison, I’ve identified a trend in the manuscripts that are not quite ready for publication. It’s a very subtle but important distinction. The best books are written FOR a reader.
Unsuccessful books are written TO a reader. If your book feels preachy, arrogant, or judgmental, your reader will not benefit from your words. For example, if you have strong feelings about teen drinking and write a 250-page book on how sinful and terrible teenage drinking is, how many teens do you think will read it? On the other hand, if you wrote a funny, compassionate book about the struggles teens encounter with peer pressure, including the pressure to drink alcohol, and gave them easy strategies they could use to avoid alcohol and drugs, your book would be much more attractive to your readers. It would be even better if you had a teen-aged co-author who could speak directly to his/her peers, using their language. As your plan and write your book, use these questions to ensure that you are advocating for your reader in your book, instead of lecturing them:
When you remember that as an author, you are an advocate for your readers, you will write a book that connects to the heads and the hearts of your audience. ‘For’ and ‘to’ are small words. Yet, they carry a powerful reminder for authors. I have them on a sticky note on my computer as a constant reminder. Hope this article was helpful FOR you! |
