  Miranda’s Story

clip_image002.jpg

As some of you know, my 8 year old daughter received her My Power Mall debit card Thursday night.   She was very excited to have her OWN piece of plastic.   This is how My Power Mall pays its members their commissions and rebates on their purchases and those of their team mates.   My daughter now has a team of about 350.

This month she received a payment of $44.00 and eager to celebrate, she wanted to take me out to dinner.   Wow…I thought….my 8 year old daughter is taking me to dinner and SHE’S going to pay!

We went to the Home Town Buffet.   Before you are seated, you pay the cashier first.   My daughter who can barely see over the counter, hands the cashier her (debit/MPM credit card).   The woman rings up two dinners and then prints out the slip.   She is about to hand it to me, and I said, “Miranda – sign the receipt.”

The woman gives me a quizzical look.  I tell her….”It’s HER card..SHE has to sign it.”   I then go on to explain that this is how her online internet business pays her.   I said, “I wish that when I was 8 I could have had an online business as well.   Of course there was no internet when I was 8.”   The look on the woman’s face was precious.   Unfortunately I didn’t have a Power Mall flyer or business card with me, but NEXT time I will.

After dinner, we head over to the Dollar Tree.   Miranda is eager to use her newfound spending power again.   She finds three items and gets in line.   I have a few things as well.   This time, Miranda gets to swipe her card herself and already seems to be a pro at doing so.   Once again when it comes to signing the bill, the cashier looks at her strangely when Miranda picks up the pen.   Again I offer the explanation, “She has to sign it. It’s her card.   This is how my daughter’s online business pays her.”

Standing behind me is an 11 year old boy, who is totally intrigued that a little girl has her own credit/debit card.   He tells his father what he just saw and then asks me what kind of internet business my daughter has.   I tell him, she has her own Power Mall with over 1100 stores and every time someone makes a purchase she and them get paid a percentage of the rebate by the store.   Once again I am caught WITHOUT a My Power Mall flyer or business card to hand out.

The reaction in these two places however was absolutely priceless and Miranda is tickled that she got to take her mom out to dinner.   On the way to the restaurant, she had even called her grandparents to tell them what she was doing.

I wanted to hold on to Miranda’s card for safekeeping but she would have none of it…..she says she will be responsible and will keep it in HER wallet.   She is looking forward to receiving regular payments every month now on her debit card.

I know this will help teach her money management and responsibility.   When the payments start increasing, I will be able to transfer the funds directly to her savings account and help build her college fund.   In the meantime, she is having a blast.

Once again, I am grateful for a friend introducing me to My Power Mall and allowing my daughter to have such a wonderful entrepreneurship experience at such a young age.

Many blessings!

Hugs!

Hi Gail,
What a wonderful thing to wake up to!  Thank you so much for sharing this story with me.  How thrilling it is to see 8 year olds who are doing the things that will establish their financial future.  Sure beats cutting grass and babysitting. J
